Does My Quality Of Life Really Depend On Who Is President?

Barack Obama Action FigureSo who should we vote for?  Does the President really dictate what your quality of life is going to be like?

In all honesty, are these Presidential candidates really going to look out for me? Sure, maybe they will use some spies in a foreign country to protect my safety here at home and maybe abroad. But how are they going to help me out. There are some things I would like to see fixed here in the United States. Hopefully if these guys (Obama & McCain) are listening, they could really hear what the people want.

  • Give everyone free health care or the same health care that the President receives.John McCain Action Figure
  • Petroleum should be regulated like a utility.
  • Eliminate the IRS. Who really wants to file all that paper work? The IRS already knows how much you owe or get back anyway. Why even file?
  • Make a flat tax or fair tax.
  • Stimulate the U.S. economy and not the economies of other countries.
  • Ship some of that Iraqi oil over here to pay for that 10 billion dollar a month war.
  • Keep guns legal, just outlaw bullets or make them out of diamonds so criminals are unable to afford them.
  • Find Bin Laden!!! We can put a man on the moon, perform open heart surgeries, make robotic body parts but we can’t find this asshole?

So who should we vote for?  Does the President really dictate what your quality of life is going to be like?

The IRS doesn't know how much you get back automagically. That assumption ignores deductions, for one (medical costs, office supplies for home businesses, charitable donations, and lots of other stuff). Then there's the millions of people that work in tip-based jobs: waitstaff, hairstylists, delivery people, valets, and so on. Legally they're required to declare their tips (though I would doubt most people declare them accurately). Given the complexity of the tax code, someone that knew more could probably come up with a dozen other examples… but I don't know the tax code, luckily. That's why CPAs exist.

As far as a flat or fair tax, don't hold your breath. Congress critters know that's political suicide. It would screw some of their biggest campaign contributors.

Good points! I'm with you for the flat tax. Tax everything from a candy bar to a casbah, that way, tthe criminals and hookers and the very wealthy and the working poor pay the same. Eliminate the IRS. Also, make political campaigns two months long and paid for throug public money. All candidates get treated equally when it comes to campaign contributions and then they are beholdin' to no one. Surpise! Will common sense ever prevail again. Thanks for the neat topics.

The flat tax would be good for people as the more they consume, the more taxes they would pay. Everyone would have to pay taxes even criminals and people that don't pay taxes. There would be no way around it.
Of course businesses and coporations would have to pay their regular coporate taxes.
