How Bad is the Economy?

There are millions of Americans out of work. Unemployment ran out for over a million people. There is no source of income for these people.

What are they to do if there are no jobs. Not everyone can work at McDonald’s. Even McDonald’s put a freeze on hiring at certain locations.

I hear of some people faking sickness and disability to get Social Security Disability. Yes, that’s right.  Desperate times calls for desperate measures.

There are people going to their local SSI office and twitching, limping, acting depressed, cutting off their own fingers just to feed their families.

This is a sick situation but rather than rob, steal and murder they rather do what they can to put food on the table.

This is America, we are not suppose to be a third-world country.

Cleveland Casino – Has A Nice Ring To It

Ohio hit a royal flush at the polls. They approved casino gambling in 4 locations across Ohio. The gambling issue has been on the ballot a few times before and failed. Now that Ohio has hit rock bottom with high unemployment and the state and local municipalities trying to balance budgets, Ohio will get some much needed tax revenue.

Of course Casinos will create jobs for Ohioans. Not just Casino jobs but jobs around the casinos. Vendors from the food service industry to electricians will be needed to keep the casinos running.

Slot machines are commonplace in casinos

As for the naysayers that say a casino will bring crime, drugs and prostitution to the area…Well, Cleveland has never had a casino and there is plenty of of crime, drugs and prostitution in the area.  Revenue from casinos in Ohio will put more police on the streets.

There is no time to waste. Stick the shovel in the ground and start building this Cleveland Casino today.

See you at the penny slots.

How Much Does Unemployment Pay? – Costly – I Lost My Job

How Much Does Unemployment Pay? - Costly – I Lost My Job

I lost my job. Don’t feel sorry for me. I was in the technology sector and was underpaid for the amount of skills that I have. I worked hard. I was never late to work and I was employee of the month in less than a year at the company. When State laws were effecting my industry, I helped the owner of the company get signatures on petitions to get an issue on the ballot. I knocked on doors, went to other businesses and busted my but to help out the company. I thought I would grow with this company. We had a great relationship. I loved them and they loved me. I had outstanding productivity.

Jobless

Jobless

I developed ideas and strategies for the business. As time went on, the business stopped listening to its employees (their most valuable resource.) They hired consultants. After they hired consultants, I was hanging on for a year.

I knew I was going to get laid off. It was a matter of time. Especially when the HR guy calls you into his office and tells you straight to your face that “You’re not going anywhere in this company.”

(Yes, I was told that 8 months prior to getting laid off.) See, I’m not an ignorant person. I knew all about the business I was in and I surrounded myself with any and all information about the sector.

Well last Tuesday the HR guy walks in the room and calls me and two other fellow co-workers into a conference room. I knew why were called in the conference room. I was mad and happy at the same time when we were told we were losing our jobs. Mad because I was saying to myself “How could they do this to me? I’m an outstanding worker.” Iwas happy because when they said that they were giving up on thier VOD project, I was saying, “I told you so, I know you should have listened to me.”

Getting laid off was kind of a relief. I knew it was coming. It was just a matter of when. I really did not want to be at that place anymore after the HR guy told me to my face that I’ll never advance in the company. When I was insulted in HR’s office, I prepared myself and built a bunch of websites…from blogs to social networks. (I belong to over 40 social networks and I actually created one of these networks.)

How Much Does Unemployment Pay?

I’m getting 210 dollars a week from unemployment. That’s 840 a month. My cobra insurance is 704 a month. Wouldn’t you think that if you are not working, that insurance would be cheaper. Not! Let’s say that I do get COBRA..how do I pay my bills, rent, feed my kid, put gas in my car…ect?

We’ll I grew  up in an enviroment where when one door closes another door opens. So far the “other” door is ajar.

2009 Stimulus Check – Among Other Things

Fear

Fear

Amazing. It’s been a while since I last posted. Sorry for such a delay.

Here’s what I have been up to.

  • I have been working on some new websites.
  • I have been battling a painful sinus infection.
  • I’m trying to shed some weight before my brother’s wedding.
  • Cleaning up this website.

I had almost 300 comments on my post about the 2009 stimulus check. It was slowing down the time it takes to load the webpage so I cleaned up most of the comments.

It looks like president Obama’s Stimulus Plan will pass and he’ll be signing the bill soon. I’m all for tax cuts but for the amount we are going to spend you could give everyone in the WORLD a 1600 dollar check.

A tax break for me would be an extra 8 bucks a check. That’s sucks.

Instead of getting 8 bucks every two weeks how about giving everyone a 2009 stimulus check for 50 thousand dollars. Wouldn’t that make better sense.

I know that there are going to be people out there that say this would cause inflation. But tell me, how do you know it would cause inflation? Have you received a 50 thousand dollar 2009 stimulus check yet?

Like many of you out there, I’m worried about my job. Why would I be worried? Well, first of all, I see how bad this economy is getting. Unemployment is growing at an alarming rate and businesses of all types are suffering.

The second reason why I fear for my job is because when I say hi to my bosses, they haven’t been saying hi back to me lately. It seems as if everyone is depressed and down in the dumps, no wonder why they call this shit a depression.

2009 Stimulus Check

The third reason why I feel like my job is at stake is because I haven’t been rewarded for outstanding work in a very long time. I bust my ass at work and I’m totally productive.  I’m never late to work. (I hate being late and I think tardiness is a sign of laziness.) I’m the type of person that can learn a new job in minutes or come up with a productive idea.

Now, I could go on some more. But I won’t. That would be BRAGGING.

Do you sense that things may be going wrong at your job? Vent it out by leaving a comment.
