msplinks – How do you get your link to work on myspace?
What is msplinks and how do I get around them?
Msplinks is a bunch of code to mess up your links on myspace. Go ahead and put a link on your myspace page and unless it is an approved site (photobucket or youtube) your visitors are going to get a big warning about spam and viruses.
I found a way to get around this. I’m going to give you free and easy advice. I’m not going to write an ebook about this or charge anyone for this information because I really don’t like myspace. I don’t like how they manipulate links so that they don’t count as inbound links when it comes to SEO.
What I did to get around the whole msplinks mirage was to add the application “RSS Reader.” The links on this application are direct and they don’t scare the visitors to death with a big warning page. If you are familiar with RSS you’ll know what I’m talking about. Look at my myspace page www.myspace.com/dailybragger and you’ll see I have the Reader App. If you click on these links in the reader they work great and there is no big warning to your potential visitors.

I agree i hate the mpslinks. I started a site because I hate myspace. All it is is bands spamming bands. Check out http://www.bandarray.com. We just getting started and will be replacing myspace in due time.
Maybe it’s a little late. But here is what I did.
1 Go to tinyurl.com or another website which shortens urls.
2 Shorten the url and
3 use the new short url in stead of the original (long url) for myspace and you’ll see, it works!
Well actually it is not a workaround for msplinks, but the result is the same, since you can now direct to any url.
Actually what you’re doing is the same thing myspace did. Making the url redirect. You can use this for any kind of url you like. Skype Urls, itunes urls etc..
I used it for the url to launch iTunes and subscribe to my podcast. As you can see in the link below, it even allows url’s other then http://
original url: itpc://dl.dropbox.com/u/14194526/itunes_podcast_feed.rng
the short url i used is: http://tinyurl.com/2uh3m23
