I must say that I was very impressed. The clarity of the phone call was amazing.

This service comes in handy because the cell phone reception is kind of shaky where I live.

To be able to make calls from Google’s Gmail, you’ll need a headset and microphone.  You will also need a phone number and you can get that free from Google Voice.

I heard of this new restaurant on Jog Road called DiSalvo’s Trattoria from friends and today I decided to give it a try. Here is my review of Disalvo’s Trattoria. (<–Click for location)

My family and I were seated right away when we entered the door at Disalvo’s.  Chad seated us and gave us water right away. I thought that was cool because not too many restaurants give water anymore.

Looking at the menu, I was drooling. Right away I ordered ravioli with alfredo sauce for my son and some meatball sliders as an appetizer for my wife and I.

Chad brought out some garlic bread that was amazing AND some pizza dough for my son to play with. (I thought this was very cool. It kept my 8 year old busy while he was waiting for his food. )

Within 15 minutes my son had his alfredo and we had our meatball sliders. DELISH! I could have ate these meatball sliders all day long.

5 minutes later I got my order of sausage with peppers and onions on wheat and my wife got her ravioli with cheese and tomato sauce.  EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. The servings were hearty and taste amazing.

I had to get my sausage and peppers packed up because I was so full.

The bill for a party of three and a baby on the way – $41.00.

Atmosphere  – A+

Service – A+

Food – A+

Price – A+

My son told me he wanted these silicone bands called “Silly Bandz.”  Of course I had to investigate. I wanted to know all about Silly Bandz.

After doing some research, I found out that they are those bands that have shapes that snap back when you take them off your wrist. Kids are trading these bands. I guess it’s kind of like trading cards for the these kids.

So I was on a quest to find these Silly Bandz or Silly Bands.

If you are Clevelander and you want to come down to Florida there are a few things you will need to know before you head down here.

Bring sunscreen – duh. My precious Cleveland skin wasn’t used to the sun and the first day I was here I got these tiny blisters on my fingers. After getting them checked out, I found out that it was a type of eczema brought on by not being used to the sun..it’s called dihydrosis.  Don’t worry it will go away or you can prevent it by using sunscreen on your hands.

Make sure the A/C in your car works. People will look at you funny if you have your car windows open in 90 degree weather.  They will know you are not opening your car windows to get fresh air…it’s because you really didn’t make sure your air conditioner was charged before you left for Florida.

If you want to fit in, don’t wear shorts in 60 degree weather.

Learn how to pronounce words so they sound Spanish.  Boca Raton should be pronounced Bow-ka Ra-tone. Clevelanders pronounce it Boca Ratan.

Pop is still pop down here unless you run into a New Yorker who will still call it Soda.

After an hour of watching TV you will see around 15 ads for lawyers. Personal injury lawyers. Tim Misney is not known here in South Florida.

In Cleveland the bars close at 2am. In some parts of South Florida…they don’t close. Especially Miami.

Watch the weather before you go into the Ocean. They usually give jellyfish warnings or warnings about the currents.

Be prepared to pay more for some things and less for others. Fruit is cheap. Razor blades are not.

Don’t say “Where is this rain coming from? – when it’s sunny. It even rains  while the sun is shining.

If it rains wait 5 minutes. It will probably stop.

If you are a man, bring condoms.

If you are a woman bring condoms.

If you are a condom….you’re screwed.

If you are married, you are single.

If you are single, you are one lucky bastard.

I’m in South Florida because my last September, my father-in-law passed, he was killed by a drunk driver. We came down here to help my mother-in-law adjust. They were married for 41 years so there is a big adjustment period.

So I’m here in South Florida trying to adjust too.

The bugs are huge. They have these bugs called Palmetto Bugs…I Googled them and it turns out they are American Cockroaches. I guess the fancy name “Palmetto Bug” is just to soften the blow. To me…they are enormous cockroaches.  AND THEY FLY LIKE RESCUE HELICOPTERS.

The other thing that I’m trying to get used to is the heat and humidity. My hands got tiny blisters within a week of arriving here. I Googled these blisters and it is a from of Eczema brought out from people that aren’t used to the sun. It’s called dihydrosis.  In my entire life I have never had eczema. It must be that my skin has to get acclimated to the rays of sun here.

I do miss my friends, and all other things Cleveland. I especially miss the cheaper living. Gas is a few dimes more down here in South Florida.

If you want to enjoy the nightlife in South Florida, you better have a few more dollars out here than in Cleveland. I bought 3 drinks at a bar in West Palm Beach and the price was 30 dollars. (About 100% more than the price in Cleveland.)

Back to the gas prices…I don’t why they would be higher here, the Gulf of Mexico is not that far away and it’s where they pump all that black gold.

There are some things here in South Florida that are cheaper. FRUITS. Fruit is so cheap here because so many people have fruit trees in their yards. Plus, Florida is the citrus capitol of the United States.

Now that I traded an occasional tornado for an occasional hurricane, how do I feel about hurricanes? I know that if there is a hurricane warning down here…I’ll be the first to start driving to Cleveland.

Today, my son picked up a muffin and then he wanted something to drink with it. At the store he noticed a strange bottle of Coca Cola. It wasn’t the usual plastic bottle. It was a small glass bottle of coke.  “Dad, what kind of Coke is that?” I told my son that’s how I remember Coca Cola as a kid. It was in a bottle and you couldn’t twist off cap.

Just then, I had flashbacks to when I was a kid.  Hot days, fishing,and getting a hair cut at the local barber shop came rushing in to my head and all with all these memories I had a bottle of Coke in my hand. WOW!!!

Sure people will say that Coca Cola isn’t the right thing to give a 7 year-old, but heck, this is nostalgia. I bought the Coke for my son and pried the top open in the car and we had a nice conversation about old Coca Cola machines.

So Coca Cola sold me on nostalgia. It’s a pretty ice cold and refreshing  marketing technique and it worked. It was also nice to share a coke with my son and talk about the old days.

We had a Coke and smile.

If I owned a bakery and didn’t sell any cakes because the people in my neighborhood didn’t have any money…why would the government give me money? Am I going to buy my own cakes? Why not give 2010 stimulus checks to the people so they can BUY my product.   It’s absurd that our government gave billions to industries that had trouble selling products because their consumer’s didn’t have any money or credit.

*If I only had money to spend. A 2010 stimulus check would help.*

I think the government should strengthen big business and small business.  What’s the best way for govenment to give businesses a big boost?

Give every taxpayer a big fat stimulus check for 20 thousand dollars. Yep, that’s right. $20,ooo. How will this boost businesses?

Giving a 2010 stimulus check to people for 20k would get people to spend.

I know if I had 20 grand, I would be at Best Buy or Walmart right now.

I might even put a down payment on a new car. A smart car.

Giving taxpayers 2010 stimulus checks for 20 thousand…

It would start a spending flow chain. (consumer–> business–> manufacturer–> Employees –> Consumer)

I’m still pissed off that our government gave all that money to automakers.

You can give all the money you want to the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker, but it’s not going to get consumers to buy their products.

Bailout money and a fat 2010 stimulus check should go to the people.

We, the people, spend.

Why is the economy bad? Because people aren’t spending.
