2012 Stimulus Checks
If I owned a bakery and didn’t sell any cakes because the people in my neighborhood didn’t have any money…why would the government give me money? Am I going to buy my own cakes? Why not give 2012 stimulus checks to the people so they can BUY my product. It’s absurd that our government gave billions to industries that had trouble selling products because their consumer’s didn’t have any money or credit.

I agree with you I think the stimulus check be more than $250.00 what can a person buy with that amout? Give the people more so they can spend and buy things to get this ecomony back on track and get the jobs back. C’mon help the people, not the bailout ones who makes enough to buy what ever they want when they want .The low income families have to pinch and pinch every dime I know I’m one , I have bought me any new clothes since I was in my last year of high school, and I’m 58 now mine has been from goodwill store or a yard sale. I wouldn’t buy no new clothes I just don’t have the money too.But if I did have the money i would buy me a complete warrobe of clothes. So make the STIMULUS bigger.
I totally agree with both of you. I have been to college and have a degree….but it doesn’t do any good without the experience. People have the tendency to overlook you completely – without experience. I pay right now just barely under $200 a month for student loans – I am scheduled to pay till the year 2028. I am trying very hard to pay that plus everything else…It is crazy. Maybe someone will look into this “madness”…….hopefully.
You people should stop complaining, and be thankful for what you have. I am on social security, and have only a small pension check coming in every month, and I was over joyed to get my 250.00, stimulas check. The government didn’t have to do that . I’m just thankful they did, because with my small income, it was like a miracle check to me, so America, stop complaining, and get off your lazy buts and go to work . Some are on welfare that shouldn’t be, because they’re just too lazy to work. Geez Wake up!

How the hell can people go to work, when THERE ARE NO JOBS TO BE HAD. I am in foreclosure and losing everything I ever dreamed of having. Get used to it people, this is not going to get any better for a long time yet. I do, however think a $250 so called “Stimulus Check” is a slap in the American peoples faces. The only thing that stimulates is my gas tank for a couple of weeks, if that.
I myself strongly agree that taxpayers should be getting the stimulas check,because we’re the the one working so that the disabled,etc… can be able to draw a check. I’m not being selfish but right is right.
I have to agree with Tony, Marie what are you thinking, i am off my butt i work 2 jobs and my wife works everyday also and it is still hard for us to get buy, plus as of right now, not to many jobs are open for everybody. Maybe you should get off your lazy butt and go back to work then? Its people like you that make me so mad. I also agree with getting another stimulus check, maybe a 1000 per person, then i could get the things my son needs.
I agree with all of you the ones that gat the cheak did not really work or earn them so why would they spend them people who earn there money will spend it because they know that they will recieve more people who sponge the goverment because they can areb why we as a nation are falling apart.
I think they should give us a lot more money than they should! This year alone they lowered the bracket so more people are getting less money than before were in a recession and their not helping regular people get out of it…all their doing is helping big companies and VIPs The country at a whole is in danger not just these banks and carmakers. You can fix them but we still need to buy things to keep those companies running and we as the people arent buying homes, cars and everyday things because we still dont have money!

I have worked since 1967 up to 2004 and the jobs left or they just kept the ones with more years than what I had, I can’t get no job for there is none, I’m not old enough to get social security for I’m not at the age yet I have 3 years to go on that one and then there won’t be none for me to collect because it’s all gone .My husband collects social security disability hes has blood clots and degenerated disc disease in his back really bad and thats what we live on and its really hard, the government don’t care about the low income /middle class only themselves they will always have a pay check no matter what after they leave office. So they need to up the stimlus than a 250.00.they send me statements that they can give me a grant for 50,000 why not give me half in a stimlus check. What some government we have and it is going to get worse before it gets better.
The person that said people should get off welfare and get a job should do the same. I’m a mother of 2 and a wife and I lost my job in January and my husband has been on unemployment since October. Thank God he’s going back next week. We had to do whatever we had to (go on welfare and other goverment programs) for the first time in my life to help feed my children and live. $900 p/mo for unemployment doesn’t cut it when you have rent/car payment/utilities. We paid our rent, etc. for 3 months from income tax money but a stimulas in a larger amount than $250 would help right now.
i think they should give everyone $20,000 so we can get every one back too work.

I agree with 20,000 stimulus check for everyone. Do the math, take the number of American citizens and multiply that by 20,000. The total is far less than what the government spent to bail out the big banks, car manufacturers and other big business. Wouldn’t 20,000 one time check bail a lot of the taxpayers out and stimulate the economy? You bet it would sure help me out

It would be great to get $20,000 stimulus check. It would be a enough for me to create my own business. Since most jobs are going over seas. And our goverment wont limit what kind of jobs go overseas and what should stay in America. Why not help myself. I just need the jump start not a fall back.

I agree a stimulus to EVERY AMERICAN, taxpayer or not (those on social security, disability, and welfare) could use a break, even if it was only 2000 per household. That sure would come in handy for a mortgage payment and christmas, or a much deserved family vacation. When we do not have any extra income, and the homes are in forclosure, how can we worry about buying a cake from a bakery!! Everyone keep cheering each other on as Americans united to improve our home lives.
I also think every time there is an out of country catastrophe, the world turns and waits expectantly for the United States to offer food, aid, and money to help repair. We are proud to do this, but first our peoples needs have to be met first. Statistics say 1 in 7 goes hungry, and that same statistic is current for home forclosures. Our own people in the U.S.A need to come first!!!!
The Republicans would block any attempt to help anyone that isn’t already wealthy (a net worth of $1,000,000.00 or more).
There was a proposal by Bernie Sanders and others for a one time check for 2010 since there was no COLA but 12 Democrats and all but 2 Republicans killed that effort. No COLA for 2011 and any attempt for a one time $250.00, which has already been floated, will be killed by the party of NO and their Democratic counterparts.
Want some money in these times? Open up a bank or automobile factory. Negative talks about these abound but when they want a handout all they have to do is ask.
I have something to say about almost all of these post. I am a single mother with a deadbeat father, with a goverment agency that allowes him to show up underemployed (when we were married, had no problems getting high paying jobs) Judges feel sorry for him and allow the minimum amount set. I get 47.00 a week for my little one, who has multiple disabilites and that barely covers her lunch at school or even co-pay or scrips. I too am on disablitliy from a car accident when I was 15, before you jump to judgement I worked for 15 years before, my seizures, tramatic brian injury and several other conditions That have put me on disabiltiy. Not like the “alcoholics” and “depressed” peoplewho draw checks. For the first time ever have I been put in a situation where I made too much money when I worked to receive benefits for my daughters disabilities, learning, disease called NF1, scolosis, tibia torsian etc. We fall right in the gap, I make a whole 200 dollar over proverty, to qualify for much, I was approved for 64.00 a month for foodstamps for my family size of 3 ( I also have a son) whoo hoo Can strech out with coupons. With my prescriptions and co-pays not taken into consideration with all the agencies. I have had to choose the pain or the meds, to put food on my table. Lost my home, lost my car, and 250.00 was going to help me how? It went into a bank with deceptive overdraft practices that I didn’t even benefit from . Not that I cannot manage my money, I cannot get above water when Corprate America is looking for everyway to suck money out of the disadvantage or low-income. We need to make a stand use our intellegence and stop accepting this. I promise, they are not worried about losing their home to predatory lending companies, poor banking practices, price gouging on gas. I am just saying.

If the money that was given to the auto industries would of been given to us small business owners, we would of been able to generate money in our own communites. Or even better it is time America took care of Americans. Baling out companies who stold money to start with is injust and unfair to all Americans who work every day to feed their family and build retirement. It was dear old George Bush, Jr. that got us in this mess to begin with. We went from a surplus to a deficit of over a trillion dollars under his administration and they still want to blame it on the democrats. This “trickle down economics” that the Republicans love so dearly has helped no one but them. It took us eight years to get into this mess and people expect us to get out of it overnight! Wake up! I want to let everyone know that our U.S. gov. gave $80,000,000.00 to a Country that is killing our troops. This money is for electric for them. Some U.S. citizens can not afford to pay their electric bill. If the gov. worried about this country instead of keeping up other countries we wouldnt have half the debts. Alot of the people that are complaing (older people but not all of them) are drawing a big check and also working (or sleeping) as door greeters etc. and knocking someone that has no check or work out of a job. We do need a stimulus check. As far as the ppl on ss and ssi getting a stumilus check i don’t agree with them getting any money i mean maybe some do deserve it but everyone i know that is on it are just fat and lazy. An i the tax payer that pays for your benifits can’t get a helping hand. you all need to stop feeling sorry for yourself and look at us working class that our out there working our 9 to 5 and we can’t make it. I cannot work; also I paid medicare. No COLA, rediculous, with food prices going up, medicare D, gas prices hitting above $3.00 per gal. I cannot afford fruit and eating out is out of the question. My monthly check is getting smaller and without a COLA raise, by the time I hit seventy or eighty, I will not have a dime.

What ignorant ppl don’t realize is 1) SSDI is not welfare, 2) some it is taxable if your married and your spouse woks (umm yea, I’m a taxpayer too), 3) You have to work for at least 10 years in most cases to qualify and must of worked at least 5 years out of the last
its not free money (SSDI) we worked for it too, 6) the money that each person pays in Social Security taxes is there not in your own personal account but, a combined pool to have the benefit there for the next generation (you aren’t paying for your own Social Security, you’re paying for the children of tomorrow those of you who think someone like me is a sponge when I worked for every penny I got then and now, 7) and most importantly SSDI is an entitlement only for ppl who worked prior to being disabled. Added note scum suckers, we have to be medically reviewed to the enth degree when first applying and then medically reviewed every 5 years there after. I worked for my money so don’t scoop the disabled into a big ball with SSI (welfare) recipients because the disabled are not on welfare. And before any simpletons give their opinions on stuff and open their mouths you best do you home work. For those who are of the disposition that “they know they see ppl every day who claim SSDI but aren’t sick”, I need to ask are you a doctor, lawyer, and a judge. Seriously, grow up and learn about a subject first before laying claims you ppl who call ppl like me sponges because we are disabled and you can see I have MS, am half blind, have to use a can, have itp, and the many other issues like thinking clearly and concisely while doing it quickly without forgetting. It comes down to 2 major differences. Would the stimulus help the overall economy or would it only hurt it more.The 2 areas that we need to improve on now is small business/job creation and housing. We have to stop forclosures and shortsales.Both are rising everyday at a rapid rate and this is why housing continues to drop..For many there homes are there financial future..Today people have litlle or no equity. Small business are going out of business there not being created..As long as we continue to have peoplenot create small businesses we will continue to have so many without jobs..The government continues to look at national debt being the problem and all they do is fight on how to lower the national debt but I do not hear the government discuss how to eliminate personal debt..As long as the people are up to there heads in personal debt housing will continue to crash and loans will never be giving out to create small businesses. We need to rid personal debt now..If the stimulus would of beeen giving to the people instead of banks and auto makers then we would of saw major improvement. Instead the government was more concerned it helping fannie mae and freddie mac the 2 major financial institutions that caused this mess and the car companies..You hear if he let car companies like GM go so many would of lost job.Gm and jobs only make up less then 1 percent of the entire uS population. If every US tax payer would of been giving a 20,000 coupon which should of beem used to rid debt and help make mortgage payment then maybe people would be debt free which then allows a better flowing economy
