2009 Economic Stimulus Check Package – 50K Per Taxpayer

2009 – 50,000 (Fifty Thousand) Dollar Economic Stimulus Check.

The U.S. Economy is in shambles and Capitol Hill scrambles to find an answer to the problem. What can government do in order to stimulate the economy?

First off, trickle down economics doesn’t work. Back in the 80’s it worked. But since we are in a global economy the trickle down money of yesteryear wouldn’t stimulate the U.S. Economy, it would stimulate overpaid CEOs and manufacturers overseas.

What about the government bailout packages for corporations? I don’t think they will work that well. You can give all the money you want to the auto industry, but if people don’t have any money or credit to buy a car, the Automakers are still going to go under.

What is the answer to stimulating the economy? Here is the simplest solution. It’s so easy that the government wouldn’t even consider it.

The swift and prudent action would be to give each middle-class taxpayer a 2009 stimulus check of 50,000 dollars. Yes, $50,000!

This is the 2009 Economic Stimulus Check.

This 2009 stimulus check would stimulate the economy faster than you could shake a stick at it.

So how would the United States Government fund such a economic stimulus check? Easy!

  • You cease to spend tons of money a month in Iraq.
  • The country of Iraq pays the United States for the war in OIL.
  • You cut back on useless Government waste.
  • (Insert your idea in the comment section.)

So how would giving people  a 50 thousand dollar stimulus check stimulate the economy?  If you give the taxpayers a 50 thousand dollar 2009 stimulus check they will spend.  For example, Joe The Plumber gets a check or direct deposit of 50,000 dollars. He goes to Walmart and buys a new Plasma TV. Walmart makes money on the sale, Magnavox makes money because they are selling more TVs and the employees of Magnavox and Walmart are working and making money. Joe the plumber can now watch a Cleveland Browns game and everyone is happy.

Jane, the single mom, just got her 50 thousand dollar 2009 stimulus check. She’s happier than a pig in mud.  Jane needs a new car. She doesn’t want to spend her entire 50 thousand dollar economic stimulus check on a new car so she drops 5 grand down on a new GM car and finances the rest. In this example, GM is making and selling cars. GM employees are back to work. Credit is flowing again because the bank loaned Jane money for her car. The guys at the steel mill are making more steel for GM and the vendor that fills the vending machines at the steel mill is happy because people are buying the chips out of his machine.
It’s so simple. If you want to see it visually here is a chart. (Click on the image to enlarge it.)
thousand dollar stimulus check 2009 Economic Stimulus Check Package 50K Per Taxpayer

So there you have it. Money flows, credit flows and most importantly the economy as a whole shifts into high gear all from a 50 thousand dollar a person stimulus check that the government CAN AFFORD.

Don’t like the plan? Like the plan? Comment on it!

i think it's BS that thegovernment bailsout big business but not us we need this money more then them.
50k would to a lot for everyone. you could keep your house buy a new car. last year i got 600$ it all went to bills. give the people money and not BIG BUSINES
  • sharonda
I think it is a good idea because half of us americans are struggling to pay bills, and put food in are mouths, some even have to stop paying on things because they don't have enough money for it,the lost of jobs.i really think this can help us out so we can pay off things and get what we need and maybe like they said get some of these jobs back so we can make some money to pay off bills or college. like me i need money right now to get me to school this can really help me out and i don't think people would just blow it if they really need it for important things.

    BOY......YOU CRAZY! :-)
one question arises....well many, but one for right now, "how does the us MAKE iraq pay for the war in oil???"

also.....if the government gave all the taxpayers 50k....all the non-taxpaying hoodlums would be robbing us all, and crime would be breaking out on every street corner at every stop light, worse than it is now.......total riots and looting, i can see it all now.....

you crack me up G-Dog......."Daily Bragger G-Money for PREZ!"
  • We are pumping billions of dollars in Iraq a month. There GDP is better than ours because we have so much money flowing into Iraq. I say we make them pay us back for the reconstruction using some of that black gold. It's an idea.
  • tangledhelix
The question is, what percentage of the populace would remain timid and stuff most or all of this into savings or a fixed-rate CD or similar? Some would (I would put a lot of it away...) but I think you're right, most would spend the majority of it.

Would it work? Well, that's another question. It's an interesting idea, for sure.
  • I do think that people who are thrifty would save some of the money. Others who are not well schooled in finance would blow that money in a matter of months.
I really think that it would be a great idea.
I can't believe that our Government is going to give billions to the auto industry. For what? Who is going to buy their cars? Some of these companies are going to have to fail in order to change the way they do business.

When people got sick of reading in the dark, along came the lightbulb. When people were sick of riding horses, along came the train and the automobile.

The internal combustion engine is over 100 years old. Companies need to suffer in order to innovate.
  • What is the upcoming president elects plan to stimulate the economy?
  • Tu-=Tu
a hell of an idea. Too easy and logical for any government agency to even think of approving it. But a really great idea.
  • Tu-=Tu
As far as crime, the people won't carry money with them. As far as purchasing: havazve the money in a central account. When you buy a car, TV, House, condo, expensive vaction. whoever the seller is uses a pin with the buyer putting in her or his pin wnd the money is deducted from the $50,000. It could even be at the buyer's bank. Any money not used for big ticket items after six months--hte taxpayer gets 20% of what hasn't been spent and the rest goes into an account to improve the infrastructure in the state in which the taxpayer lives. Everyone is a winner.

My husband came up with a plan similier to this, I love the idea.. Unlike what Bush did last year with the stimulus checks... whats 600 dollars each suppose to do?? Buy my gas for the week and a cart full of groceries.. TY for the one week survival Mr Bush... You live on 600 bucks!!! Not going to work, between my husband and I we was spending 200 alone in gasoline just to go back and forth to work. we each live a hour away from work in Oppisite directions.. We both drive clunker cars and havent the spare money for a loan right now.. 50,000 would definatly help the economy and help the working middle class, and they could share a bit with the lower class...

I also had an idea to help get our jobs back... Companies like wal-mart that go out of our country and pay people 10 cents an hour to make their product and bring it back into the states to sell it, should be put in a higher tax bracket... If they dont want to pay the higher tax.. Higher people in the states to make their product. Would bring back companies to the states if they want to sell their products here...I know alot of our jobs have went to over seas .. then it gets sold here in the states.. thats not fair to us americans. we can make that product just as well as columbia can and china can.. and we have enough people laid off and outta work to restart up factories... I say .... HIGHER TAXES to the rich companies making it big off of cheap labor in other countries...
  • Thank you for your awesome comment.

$600 for a single person wont cut anything these days! As soon as I go food shopping, I’m spening without even knowing it at least $150 to $200 easy! Then After that is spent, the rest will go to bills, not the economy, sorry to say, but if I give to the economy, what am I going to have left? ZERO! That’s right people, ZERO! I can’t pay my bills get food for myself and do shopping to boost the economy all at once! If you’re gonna give money, give money! Give at least to single people 15-25,000 just so we can say, WOW now I feel comfortable enough to help my economy out! It’s only gonna get harder and harder! With this little amount of money it’ll only get worse! The car dealerships don’t need all that money, they’re sitting on billions as it is! WE THE PEOPLE need help, and lots of it! We are all losing our jobs and have rent to pay and bills etc…ect… and with a little bit of $600 is not going to do anybody justice! The car markers will have to go under, because guess what, my little $600, (if that’s what they are giving the single people) will not go on a down payment on a car! It will be going in my pocket, and it will be saved! I will go broke if I spend that little bit of money very, very fast! If you’re going to send money out, send it out like you really wanna help the economy, not break it even more! Give, please WE ALL NEED IT VERY BAD!

Why $ 50,0000.00 exactly? I just want to pay off student loan and bills. I would take $ 25,000.00. (Actually, I'd take anything. I'm not greedy). Here's hoping!
  • Pauline
I think that would be a great idea of course, me being unemployed at this time and doing everything from standing on my head to jumping hoops to get a decent job. I for one would now save it I would pay off my debt so my little part time wages actually could be enough to live on till I find a decent job..

I BOUGHT A CABINET SHOP IN 07 AND BECAUS OF THE ECONOMY I HAD TO FILE BANKRUPTCY.NOW MY TAXS PAY FOR THE 800 BILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT,THE AUTO BAILOUNT NOW I HAVE TO PAY ON MY BANKRUPTCY. WHY DON'T THE GOVERENT BAIL OUT THE POEPLE WHO OWE THE BAKS THEN THE PEOPLE AND THE BANKS GET BAILED OUT.500,000.00 IS WHAT I NEED FOR MY COMPANY BAILOUT BUT APPARENTLY BAILING OUT THE ONES THAT WERE DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY THE ECONOMIC CRASH ISN'T AN OPTION.NOW I STAND TO LOOSE EVERTHING THAT I HAVE WORKED VERY HARD FOR,FOR THE LAST 16yrs.ALL I DO IS WORK.I HAVE NEVER COLLECTED UNEMPLOYMENT AND NOW I NEED HELP AND I CAN'T FIND ANY.IF ANYONE HAS ANY HELP TO OFFER I AM NOT TO PROUD TO ACCEPT IT.I HAVE A WONDERFUL FAMILY WHO UNDERSTANDS THE SITUATION WE'RE IN AND THE LORD HAS TRULY BLESSED US.I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR WAKE UP CALL FOR OUR COUNTRY,AND I CONCENTRATE ON MY FAMILY'S NEEDS AND NOT WANTS.I HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO HELP PEOPLE IN NEED AND NOW MY FAMILY IS IN DYER NEED OF FINANCIAL RELIEF,BUT THE GOVERMENT SEEMS TO HAVE LOST SIGHT OF THE REAL AREA THAT NEEDS THE BAIL OUT.I HOPE THAT THE GOVERMENT CAN GET HELP TO THE REAL AREAS IN THE CONTRY THAT NEED IT BEFOR ITS TOO LATE.I HAVE TOTAL FAITH IN THE LORD AND KNOW THAT HE WILL DO WHAT IS RITE.
    THANKS,
    TOM.

The United States Government want give every single person a stimulus check of 50,000 dollars, the government is to tight for that they think they will lose there presious bonus checks they get every year. And the government want shiffed money from the Iraqi war to the poor people here in America because they think the military needs the money to fight the war. i seved in the Army and i know how much money is wasted on the military and the war. The military is big on wasting time and money on sensless things. what really needs to happen is take the money being used to fight that stupid war and use it in our country to get the economy back on track and if it means giving 50,000 dollars to a poor family who really needs it then so be it, but the government want do that because it's to easy they think they'll lose money that will go into their pockets and they want stand for that. PROVE ME WRONG. This country is pretty meesed up. From health care on down, THIS COUNTRY NEEDS TO GET A LIFE AND START TAKING CARE OF THEIR OWN.

$50,000?!? The first thing i would do is pay off my car. then i would have save some. Then i would put a large prtion of it into our race cars... We buy race car parts, Summit and the like have something to build and sell. Comp Cams doesn't go out of business and the local drag strip stays open. All the while supporting all those peoples families. Problem solved. :)
  • laura
50,000 yes it would be nice ..but even 20,000 .if i got the money i would pay off my bills and put some of it on a down payment of a house. there are so many bank owned houses that went into forclosure. so it would help out the economy and i wouldnt be renting. getting alot of these houses that are empty people in them will help out the neighborhoods as well..
  • amanda
0mg $50,000 !!! Im a mother of 3 awsome kids and i have wonderful husband that has been laid off and has no job to go back to and cant find another one no matter how hard he is trying to find another job.The thing that we could use that kind of money on.But u do have a point with the money. With all that is goin on and people not have money they would spend it on things like food, and paying off cars and gettin new cars. They would get things they need for there kids. Its makes sence it would build the right economy to where it was.
  • don / california
I was watching a news channel recently & there actually is a 24k check
  • don / california
On a recent news channel I saw it appears there is in the works a 24k check for each taxpayer.Providing they are in good standing.Even more for a family with qualifying dependents ? Either way this is what most of us that have paid our taxes over the years deserve. We've demonstrated our committment & most would use our fair share by putting such a check to good use for our great country. Myself as an example: pay down some credit debts, purchase products from retailers in a wise way, deposit a portion into my bank savings, make withdrawals down the road eventually for more retail purchases. This should help the financial institutions even more than just giving them upfront money ? And naturally this would take alot of worry off most knowing there is a nest-egg of sorts. There should be other strict rules imposed & put in place to be eligible as well.Like maybe walking a straight line with the laws of our land & harsh penalties for those who fraudently try or obtain any goverment help,etc..
  • Vicki
I think that a minimum of $50,000 per taxpayer would be in order. Instead of giving all the money to big business to dole it out to fat cats on wall street or CEO's of car companies who are already over paid. Give it to the American that gets up everyday at the crack of dawn goes to work, takes their kids to school, worries about how they are going to put those kids through college and worries about how to just pay their bills and if they themselves will even have a job next week. Give it BACK to the people it belongs to the people that pay taxes week after week. If every taxpayer got a real stimulus check, I say taxpayer the people who actually pay into the system not those who manipulate and live off it, then the American people could pay bills and loans and credit cards off, and buy things actually put money back into the system. Put a ban on bankruptcy for 5 years so that people would actually pay off their bills with the money. Isn't that how we stimulate the economy? I also think you should forward this site to our future president maybe he will understand what real AMERICANS want.
  • Donna
Yeah..this all sounds great but its not gonna happen. Notice the lang said Middle class. Do you know how many poor people would riot? You have to consider this, poor working people consider the middle class as rich, of course the middle class doesnt see it that way. Secondly, the middle class is more likely to save the money or pay existing bills. As for the poorer of the people, they will go out and spend money on things they need, and of course things they have never been able to have due to low paying jobs. I am middle class and would love the money, but I am not gonna count on it!
  • Michelle
Give the poor people $50k first. I am all for the middle class getting 50k as well but the poor people would probably stimulate the econmy with it more. They would run out and buy a house or a car. This would help the auto industry. The middle class has a house and a car so they would use it for college funds, retirement funds or savings. They may spend a little of it on tvs and other things but the poor people would be the first to spend it. Poor people are used to having little to no savings and struggling hard for years. It would be a HUGE miracle if this happened. I would cry tears of joy and vote for Obama again in 2012. $50K would change my life. I could buy a new car without having monthly payments and put a huge down payment on a car. I would use $15k for a brand new car and $25k for a down payment. I would spend abot $500 to get ready for the digital transition and put the rest in savings. I would finally have a savings account!
  • Michelle
I meant I would use $25k for a down payment on a house. I would buy a house that was maybe $100k to keep my payments down and use some money to fix it up. I would be a home owner finally!
  • Debbye
Okay nice thought, but what about people who are on social security(either retirement or disability)? What do we get a big fat goose egg??
  • mike
I could see it now FUBU Caddilac Nike Gold and Malt Liqour stocks would go through the roof. You cant give these animals that kind of money they would nexver know how to handle it
  • Mike_hater
What the fuck? You are an inhuman monster and I genuinely hope you die a horrible painful, excruciating death. Then I would love to see people of the world unite and take turns dancing on your emaciated corpse. That is all.
  • Hkskwa
I acutally heard this being dixcussed by some politician on tv, what was said was if we didn't give all these companys all this bail out cash. The Bail out cash would be enough to give every american family 600,000 dollars. Think about that. Mind boggling if you ask me. I am still not understanding why give it to them then. every single year they need bailing out. If that type of cash were put into consumers hands I don't think those companys would need all that bailing out. THere are tons of people I know that have no car at all anymore that always had cars. I know of people that have always done well losing their homes, and their jobs. Infusion of cash to the people would be the answer. The housing markets would have to wait for people to buy houses, and same with car makers. I also think there needs to be some law or at least limit as to how much american companys can out source their jobs. You call customer service. Oh really you live in India. THat is hurting our economy as well. I would say it is even killing it. hardly anyone can own a small store. nobody shops small in your nice little town stores. They head for walmart. The city of Chicago Refused to let them build one in the city. I cheered for Chicago. Anyway I am a rambler please excuse me for that. I just had to say my piece.

I think $50,000.00 to each tax payer Would stimulate the encomy faster than any of the other packages they have considerd so far. We all deserve a break. However I don't see it happening. They are quick to bail out the big auto makers,Banks, savings and loans ect. But when it comes to tax payers ....Well you remember the stimulus check from 2008 we each recieved a whopping $600.00 each and that was suppose to renew faith in the encomy and make us want to go out and spend. Well I don't about the rest of you but that barley covered my food, gas, and elecity bill for the month. I had no money left over to go out and spend on a new tv or car . Don't get me wrong I am very thankful for the check. And it helped keep the wolves away from the door. But if your goverment wants to stimulate the econmy they are going to have to start with the tax payers and not big business. And it will have to be a substancial amount. Like $ 25,000 to $50,000.00 per tax payer. Cindy
  • JESSICA
YES, I AGREE. AS A MOTHER OF 3 PAYING RENT AND ALL THE UTILITIES, PLUS PUTTING FOOD ON THE TABLE THERE IS NEVER ANYTHING LEFT OF MY PAY CHECKS TO DO ANYTHING WITH. I SOMETIMES DON'T EVEN HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY MY KIDS THE SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND NEW SCHOOL CLOTHES THAT THEY NEED. FOR ONCE I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO GO OUT AND BUY MY KIDS SOME NICE THINGS. BUT AS WE ALL KNOW THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN... THE GOVERNMENT IS GOING TO COME UP WITH YET ANOTHER PLAN OF BAILING OUT THE BIG BUISNESS AND LEAVING US, WHO REALLY NEED TO BE BAILED OUT WITH NOTHING BUT HIGHER TAXES TO PAY. I WISH THAT I WERE WRONG BUT I JUST CAN'T SEE THEM DOING THE RIGHT THING, THEY NEVER DO...
  • J Dowell
WELL I THINK THE GOVERMENT SHOULD HELP EACH AND EVERYONE OF US TAXPAYERS
ALL THE MONEY WE SPEND AS A NATION ON ALL THE STUPID THINGS ADD UP IF THERE IS ANY HOPE OF HELPING THIS GREAT NATION OR NEW PRESEDENT WILL ELECT TO PUT MONEY INTO THE HANDS OF THE PEOPLE AND LET US FIX THE PROBLEM I KNOW IF I WERE HANDED A LARGE CHECK SAY 25000.00 OR BIGGER I COULD PAY ALL MY BILLS I WORRY SO MUCH ABOUT AND HAVE MONEY TO SPEND SO OUR GREAT COUNTRY WOULD ONCE AGAIN BE THE LEADER IN MFG AND GOOD OLD COUNTRY MOM AND POP STORES TRICKEL DOWN WILL NOT HELP WAITE AND SEE EVERYBODY AND THERE BROTHER BIG COMPANYS WILL ALWAYS HAVE THERE HAND OUT FOR MORE PLEASE LET THE PEOPLE FIX THIS POWER TO THE PEOPLE
  • Reese
I agree with the idea of a $50,000 check. I know so many people stuggling just to make their car payments (or just car repairs) after rent and food and utiliies. We need our cars to get to work to pay our rent and food for our children. If people had the money to buy a car outright then that would free up money to survive on. The government needs to stop giving our money to help other countries in trouble and help OUR country that is in trouble!!!!! What have other countries ever helped us with?? If they want to blow each other up or continue to have babies that end up starving to death or die of diseases from the dirty water they have to drink then let them. I am not a heartless person. I have children and I do feel bad for those starving children who didn't ask for the poor life they live but we need our govenments help too. We can't afford to keep sending our money to countries that depend on our help instead of trying to fix thier own problems. Our government is way too concerned with trying to "fix the world" and not concerned enough on fixing our own country. WAKE UP MR. PRESIDENT AND LOOK IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD INSTEAD OF YOUR NEIGHBORS!!!!!!!!!!
  • Char
Whoever came up with this idea...I LOVE YOU. ITS BRILLIANT.
  • Char
    I also agree with Matt.
  • I came up with idea after I saw the government bailing out the auto industry. It didn't make sense to me that our government would give billions to save our auto industry. What is the auto industry going to do with all of that money when nobody is going to buy their cars???

There are two things that have to happen in order for people to buy a new car. First, people have to have credit. Secondly, people need to have money for the down payment on a car or pay it with cash outright.

Is there a better way to stimulate the economy? I think everyone should get 25 to 50 thousand dollars. It would solve everything. Eventually, the government would get it back in taxes. When the economy is good our government collects more taxes.

If our economy continues to go down, there won't be any taxes to collect.

Thank you for your comments. I really appreciate them. Also, don't forget to contact your representatives with your ideas.

I totally agree with most comments on here, 50,000 would be great for me. My total income for 2008 was 11,529.00. TOTAL INCOME!!! Now, consider I have rent which is a cheap 200.00 a month, thats about 2,400 a year, my electric bill is between 99 and 200 a month depending on the season, thats about 2000 a year. my car payment is 345 a month fora total of 4,140.00 a year, so far my total a year is 8540.00, lets add in my water bill, my phone, and gas for my car, I'll estimate that to come to a thousand or so so thats 9500 so far. Now lets see, for all my other bills, my food, my cloths and anything else that may come up I have about 2,029.00 left a year to cover it. HUMH, Who needs a bail out, well, I just guess thats life in AMERICA!!! Thats the AMERICAN DREAM. Hopefully Obama will not let us down, and things will really "change"!!
  • Travis
I know for a fact that the government will not give everyone $50,000. The government is to greedy and they want control. 100% control of everything. Even though this amount of money would solve the problem I see new problems arising, for example prices on all widgets and all products would shoot through the roof. milk would cost $25 a gallon, a loaf of bread would cost $10, and so on. America is built with greed. So after everyone raises prices because they know more people have the money it will hurt in the long run. What about the people who don't receive the money. 2008 everyone who received that money had to make a mininum of $3,000. I kow this $50,000 idea would help a lot of people for the moment but in the long run, our money would run away from us and have less value. Our dollar already isn't worth anything these days.
  • Michael
This is the most unrealistic plan I have ever heard of. You people think our govenment is going to give 50,000 dollars to everyone. That would be awesome but imagine how much more in debt that would put the government. I mean just giving 20 ppl that amount of money is one million dollars and we are talking about giving that amount to millions of ppl. Its a good dream but it will never happen. Personally i will take anything i can get weather it is 600,1000,5000. I just hope they give us something.
  • Donna
I would be happy with 500 dollars. Need tires for the car, and new clothes. Lost weight due to lack of money for food...so..everything is falling off...the American Dream!:D...Life is full of stress, but I am thankful I have bald tires on a car thats running, and that I at least have clothes ...
  • Angela
I have been talking about this for a couple months now with people. You cut people a 600-1200 stimulus check and they spend it on bills how does that help the economy? I have an even better solution. The housing issue. No one is buying houses right now. I can even say that a lot of Americans are stuck renting now. So if you are going to have a 50K stimulus put it towards buying or refinancing a home. That way those of us who can't get a home (I have not credit because I have NEVER gotten a credit card...I have paid everything in cash) can use it as a big down payment which would make our house payment even cheaper. For those who have a house, refinance with the 50k and make their house payments cheaper. That way we have more money to spend every month and could afford a car payment or buying more things at stores. Put a stipulation on the stimulus to get people homes. This would stop people from losing their homes, get people into new homes that don't have homes, save the housing market, allow us to spend money because we would have lower house payments which would allow more spending. I have a hard time swallowing a bailout. That is our money they want to give to the big companies. OUR money should come to us!!!! Not to bail out multi-billion dollar companies that will die out anyway if we can't buy their products. We need to bailing out the people of America not the companies. We will only be able to improve the economy when we can start purchasing things again!!!! I wish the senate would listen to some of us common folk!!!
  • XGRUNT1993
I SAID ALMOST THE SAME IDEA WITH THE AUTO BAIL-OUT. I EVEN WROTE TO A REPORT AT MSNBC. I THOUGHT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD OF GAVE VOUCHERS OUT BAIL-OUT OF $25,000 PER TAX RETURN. TO PURSHASE A NEW CAR. FROM ONE OF THE BIG THREE. I THOUGHT FOR EVERY PENNY THE TAX PAYER SAVED UNDER THAT $25,000 THEY GET HALF BACK. THIS WOULD OF MADE THE AUTO DEALERS WORK FOR THERE MONEY, AND ALSO MAKE THE TAXPAYER TRY TO SAVE AND GET THE BEST DEAL, ALSO ALLOW THE TAXPAYER TO TRADE IN ONE OF THERE OLD JUNKERS. THIS WOULD ENTER HELP THE ENVIROMENT. THIS IDEA WOULD HELP THE AUTO INDUSTRY, ENVIROMENT, AND STIMULATE THE ECONOMY. WHY DOES IT SEEM SO EASY TO SOME OF US?
  • IsraelmyBeloved
Wake Up People, This Is America, Home of the Greedy, not the Brave!!!!
As in Greedy I mean the US GOVERNMENT!!! I Love America, but get real, the big bonus's will go to the CEO's of these big Company's and they just laugh at us because we just let them take our money. No I say we NEED A REVOLUTION IN AMERICA, LET'S TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK ONE TAXPAYER AT A TIME. Let's storm the gates of DC and give back to the people what is rightfully ours!!!!!!!!!! Our Country, The United States of America. Did you read that....UNITED States, Not the United Government. We the American People the Taxpayers make up the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!
  • AT
The reason this would never happen is 50k may actually get some people out of debt, which unfortunately is exactly where you society wants us to stay. Otherwise, the upper class can no longe capitolize on the bondage of debt!!!
  • nash
Of all the stupid ideas I have ever heard, this tops them all. Just when I think I've read the most ignorant article/blog, I then read some of the comments and I realize our country is in serious trouble with all of the childish replies I've read. I'm assuming that none of you fully understand how our federal reserve and deficit works. Let's start out with simple math:

    Population: 305,579,000 (yes 305 + million people) x
    Dumb Stimulus idea: $50,0000
= $15,280,000,000,000 (yes, that is 15 trillion dollars)

our current deficit is at 12 trillion. You have now doubled our defecit in one blow. 12 trillion didn't happen over night. This is 200 plus years of work, so basically you want us to be set back another 200 years because you don't know how to take care of your money. Shame on you, you idiots.

You can't just randomly say, let's print out 15 trillion dollars worth of money and give it to everyone without suffering consequences. Money has to be backed in our reserve, and by doing this you have just weakened the dollar by 50%. So that means you have more than doubled the cost of living with your $50,000 idea, in one blow. Then you have what's called the snowball effect. The economy cannot take a 50% hit in such a rapid time and will actually build momentum with prices on everyday items rapidly increasing there for adding to that 50% inflation increase. Not telling how fast that number will grow after that. Nice thinking there Einstein.

The United States Government doesn't owe you anything. Get off your butt and do it yourself. I just can't believe how many people are out there that depend on our government to take care of them. Laziness, pure laziness. This is exactly why our country is in trouble.....people who expect more than what they put in. Idiots, who go to school on $80,000 loans and don't know what to do when they have to pay it.

What happens when that 50K is gone and the cost of living has doubled in less than a year because if this moronic idea?

I have worked all my life since I was 15 years old. I am now 41 years old and in danger of loosing my 9 year job, due only to the current economy. I also have a part time cleaning job. Granted, I was living outside of my means. I have no business having two mortgages and four credit cards. But who gave me the mortgages and the four credit cards in the 1st place? I was young and irresponsible. Now that I am older and wiser, it is too late. I live pay check to pay check and the only way out for me is to file bankruptcy or get a 3rd JOB! I do not expect $50,000, but $10,000 would be a huge help. And this would only go to individuals who filed 2007 taxes. The Government could definately afford this. And for the idiot who said there are 305 million x $50,000..... NOT ALL 305 MILLION PEOPLE FILED 2007 TAXES. Therefore, those people who live off the Government currently, would get zilch, nada, nothing! So it would not be as much money as you say and the cost of living would not go up 50% with my idea. I have been working for 26 years! Why should some people get to sit home on their butts and live off the Government and I get NOTHING????!!!!!! Give the working Americans a bail out! WE DESERVE IT!!!!

I know what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck. I do it now. I only pay 6.95 a month to keep this blog up and running. It's stressful. I only wish that Washington could honestly understand that it is the people that stimulate the economy.

See, we are selling bonds to China to get all of this money. Pretty soon we are just going to print more money.

See, if the government actually gave us 50 thousand dollars, they would eventually get that money back in taxes. When people make more money and spend, the government gets more in tax revenue.

Because of the overwhelming response to this article I wrote, I'm probably going to start another site about government grips.

Thank you all for your comments and keep them coming.

May we all get through this rough time with ease.

I will admit that $50,000 would help my family out a lot but, I don't see it happening.

Household gross income in 2008: $21,000
    Mortgage payment:$650
    Heating bill: $150
    Electric: $100
    Vehicle payment: $250
Insurance for home and auto: $250
Gas for work for both of us: $300
    Food for four: $300
New transmission so we can get to work: $75
    Diapers: $50

Not to mention the fact that I am being sued for medical bills for my little boy, who when he was born spent 8 days in NICU and almost died.

That works out to a monthly income of $1750 and monthly bills of $2125. My soon to be husband and I BOTH work. He is a roofer so this is his slow time which we use to suppliment with my income in the winter months but since my hours have been cut from 40 a week to 8 a week it's been nearly impossible. We are BOTH seeking second jobs, which here in Northern Idiana, the homeland of RV companies, is nearly impossible to find. Not to mention if either or both of us were to find a second job we would have to start paying for daycare, which would ultimately consume all if not more then we would be making working a second job.

We are not greedy people, I am 28 and have had a job since I was 11, yes 11 and no I don't mean babysitting I mean a job as a farm hand, actually working to help my parents. Granted in my younger years I was paid cash, but as soon as I turned 16 I started paying taxes. Now as an adult for the first time I need help and can't even qualify for food stamps so my little ones can have more then a PB&J for lunch.

I think $50,000 is just a dream and could have some bad effects but why not $5,000 to a single person and $10,000 for a married couple?

And just FYI those that receive SSI and/or government assistance do file taxes and do get refunds. That's why they also got stimulus checks last year, as long as they received $3,000 in benefits that is...
  • Thanks for all of your comments. In all honesty, I really think that the 2009 stimulus check should be over 25k. Do you really think that a 600 dollar check is going to stimulate the economy?

I hope that the White House sees this idea and really gives everyone 50 thousand dollars. Don't worry about inflation. We are in a period of deflation. If everyone got a stimulus check worth this much, everybody could buy cars, houses, tv and pay off some bills. This is the only way to stimulate the economy.

It's either this way or get ready to grab a shovel and start building more highways so we can drive more cars that we can't afford because credit is frozen. - Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.

Don't give the big companys the money to waste on their CEO's they are the ones that don't need it. When the goverment gives them our taxes dollars all they do it put more money in their pockets. How about doing what this artical says and putting money back in to the american peoples pockets? Shoot i know if i ever got that much money i would be doing alot with it. Not only would it keep the economy going it will put a lot of people where they need to be, and this way we would see the results the goverment wants out of trying to keep the economy up and going.

I want to say this. If the goverment wants to move things along and take back our country for the american people then they need to realize that even when people are here on work visa's or even have promision to work in the states by opening up restraunts and general company's they should pay taxes not have tax breaks to keep them here. Who is to say that an american can not do the same thing that they do. If they don't agree to pay the taxes out of their wages, and do the things americans have to do then they don't need to come and work in our country. I think if the goverment would just start backing up the american people, and not say of you don't have to pay taxes cause you are not american they would have alot more flow in the economy.

You know that not one of us is 100% american we are the melting pot of the world. This is what makes us americans, but i think that they should take in to consideration exactly what is happening to the american people born and rasied here. I am sorry they need to worry about what is happening with in our boarders and strighten us out before they go and help out another country. We have hungry here, we have homeless here, we have abandoned children here, most of all we have people ever day lossing their jobs, homes, life, and this needs to be token care of.

has anyone heard of inflation? if everyone all of a sudden has 50k, then the prices of cars are going to skyrocket, and we'll be in the same position. the idea is absolutely stupid. giving people money is not going to make everyone rich, the rich will still be rich, and the poor will all have 50k of useless u.s. dollars.

and we can not make Iraq pay for the war, we did this after WWI and it caused so much problems within the German country it caused WWII,
  • J.J.
Great Idea but here's another good one-A $10,000 Tax Credit to people who buy a new 2008-2009 Auto made by 1 of the Big 3
  • Pattie
that wouldn't help me.... I'm unemployed, I'd never get approved to buy a new car.
  • Thomas Riley
I Think the Goverment should give all americans $50,000.00. It would Really Really help me. I could buy a new car, Pay bills. I earn a very very low income and I have a disability. I Hope Obama and the Goverment does this Gives All Americans $50,000.00.
  • Pattie
As someone who is currently unemployed, I'd be so happy to get $50K. That would mean I could go back to school, get a degree in something more useful. I could pay off my car, and keep paying my rent while looking for a job. I like your idea.
  • the notorious B
I love the idea... but I see two problems...
    1. We can't really expect Iraq to pay us back for anything... we went in and destroyed their country - unprovoked. We have an obligation to rebuild it. Unfortunate, but true.

    2. I can't imagine anyone would finance a car... I would pay mine off, and it would help my credit, or buy one outright... but would def not want a car payment. So it would still help auto and credit industries, but separately.

    Again - love the idea!
  • beth
yes.... that will work good ,i have been saying the same thing
  • cilla
i think it would be awesome, you know there would be alot less stealing killing and other horrible things because joe blow isnt stressed about paying bills or having a home or a nice dependable vehicle or paying child support or what ever money trouble they may stress over because they would have releif and thats all anyone is looking for is some releif i mean give me one good reason why they shouldnt do that..i know not all crimes are committed over money or stress but a good deal of them are i mean why do people flipped out or go crazy mostly because they are exhausted and stressed out......so i know it isnt going to happen but i just wish that it would itwould help alot of middle class people with problems out.

Based on the ticker tracking the current cost of the Iraq war on this web page, the war has cost us less than the original bailout alone. Obama's stimulous plan is about 200 billion dollars more costly than the entire iraqi war thus far. So both bailouts together bring the government bailout cost to about 3 times what we've spent on the iraqi war.

With these numbers in mind, lets take a look at what is possible for a direct to taxpayer stimulous check.

First, you couldn't give any one class the money excluding all others. That would alienate too many people. What you'd have to do is only alienate a few people, or in this case; The Rich.

So long as you make under 200k, you'd qualify for the check, which would only be about 6 THOUSAND DOLLARS. Now, don't get me wrong, the idea is good, but based on the two bailouts, if they distributed that money to US citizens excluding the rich, that would be how much everyone would get.

I do believe this would stimulate the economy. Yes, you'd have some who would put it away. But you'd have plenty who would run out and spend it right away. Most of the poor would spend theirs immediately. Most of the middle class who aren't struggling to make their house payment would do the same, treating themselves to that new entertainment center or whatever. Those struggling may be able to catch up on their house payments to avoid foreclosure.

The money going back into the economy would create new jobs to employ those who were struggling and almost lost their homes. The money they earn goes towards paying their mortgages, so the banks don't need bailed out. It's a good idea.

Unfortunately, the US government will not trust it's citizens to spend the money in the right places. But that is exactly what is necessary to give this economy the boost it needs. Big business doesn't drive the economy. Consumers do.

I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SPEND A $50K CHECK!! AND YOUR RIGHT, PEOPLE WOULD SPEND IT. A VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE OF THE POPULATION WOULD SAVE IT.
  • hanif
2009 check is based on your 2008 filing status or interchangeabale because he is so slow back in the day can't be suck on the same time as him he needs to start over every time
  • chris
I agree 100%, because I am Joe the Plummer and if I would recive a $50,000 dollar check I would go out and spend the money. I would spend it on things like a down payment on a home or a new car. I can think of a million things that I would love to do with that kind of money.
